Thieves break into Beazley’s office
Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley’s electorate office has been broken into in Rockingham, south of Perth.
Police were called to the office on Council Avenue about 3:00am AWST.
It is the second time Mr Beazley’s office in Perth has been burgled in about a month.
Defective Sgt Michael Hfuhruhurr said that the offenders had broken into the office through a side window and had stolen a flat screen television.
"I do not believe that this was a politically motivated crime. I don't think anyone in Australia, including criminals, would be so stupid as to have broken into the Leader of the Opposition's office in order to steal ALP policy documents. It would have made more sense, if that was their motivation, to bypass the monkey, to not pass go, to not go to jail, to not collect $200, but to head straight to the organ grinder and to break into the office of the member for Bennelong."
The Leader of the Opposition supported Defective Sgt Michael Hfuhruhurr's assessment, saying that "there hadn't been anything that remotely represented value to come out of my office, by fair means or foul, for over 10 years."
